Blog # 3: Reflections on Selecting an Idea and Bibliography on EdTech in Library Instruction

Below are the materials I consulted after deciding that I would go for the role of and trends in Educational Technology as applied in Library Instruction, one of the user-oriented jobs performed in all of the types of libraries and information centres.

Coming up with a topic was not easy. There were numerous issues that surround the library and information science practice in the country. We are so far behind in terms of technology and skills. A vast majority of current library personnel are aloof in using tech tools and gadgets to aid their jobs. This particular attitude towards technology is not helping the advancement of the field.

In my role as a Reference Librarian, I find that proper and engaging Library Instruction (most especially freshmen orientation) are extremely helpful in making the research tasks of students easier. Those who listened well and absorbed the information presented during the tour were able to navigate their own ways through the library and locate the materials most relevant to the study. They have the confidence they need to properly identify which resources they are going to use or which finding aids they need to assist their work.

So with this knowledge, I decided to come up with an outline, and subsequently a Mind Map, for Educational Technology in Library Instruction.

Listed below are the references I gathered that helped me architect the structure for my final paper.
